Following my recent meeting with the Government Department, I am sharing formal clarification regarding Safety Certificate discs under the new Fairground Regulations.
The Department has confirmed the following:
“The new Regulations came into operation on 2 October 2025. As a result, certificates of safety granted before this period may be continued in accordance with the old Regulations. As the certificate of safety disc is only required under the new Regulations, this means that it is only required for fairground equipment tested from 2 October 2025 onwards.”
Accordingly, a Safety Certificate disc will be required at the next due safety test carried out under the new Regulations.
Regardless of the safety discs: Since the 2nd of October 2025 ALL inflatables must have a safety certificate as laid out in the legislation.
Hiring out an inflatable without a proper valid safety certificate, issued by an SQI is a criminal offence punishable by law.
